Australia hikes cash rate target by 25 basis points to curb inflation

The Reserve Bank of Australia has decided to increase the cash rate target by 25 basis points to 3.1 percent, according to a statement published on Tuesday.
"The board expects to increase interest rates further over the period ahead, but it is not on a pre-set course," the statement said.
