Chinese President Xi Jinping on Friday met with Comorian President Azali Assoumani in the Saudi capital Riyadh.
Noting that Comoros has long provided firm support on issues concerning China's core interests and major concerns, Xi said China would continue to support Comoros in safeguarding its sovereignty and territorial integrity, achieving economic and social development and improving people's livelihood.
China also supports Comoros playing a bigger role in international and regional affairs and stands ready to work closely with Comoros to uphold the common interests of developing countries and international fairness and justice, Xi said.
Xi pointed out that China is willing to enhance cooperation with Comoros in all areas and at all levels, and further align the implementation of the outcomes of the China-Arab States Cooperation Forum and Forum on China-Africa Cooperation with Comoros' "Emerging Comoros Plan for 2030" strategy which aims to turn the country into an emerging market with full vitality.
China is willing to promote cooperation in areas such as infrastructure, medical and health care and marine economy, and will encourage Chinese enterprises to invest in Comoros, Xi said, adding that he hopes Comoros can make good use of platforms such as the China International Import Expo and the China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo to promote more Comorian products to enter the Chinese market.
Azali said Comoros and China enjoy traditional friendly relations. Since the independence of Comoros, China has always stood together with Comoros and offered selfless help when the country is in difficult times. The major infrastructure projects and anti-epidemic supplies and vaccines provided by China have greatly benefited the Comorian people.
The president also noted that no matter what challenges China may face in the future, Comoros will continue to stand firmly with China. Comoros supports China's efforts to achieve complete reunification and all the plans put forward to safeguard world peace and development, Azali said, adding that Comoros is willing to work with China to support multilateralism.
