Since the 1980s, Chinese companies have been helping Algeria to build large-scale water conservancy facilities. They have built the 2,500-cubic-meter Algiers Spherical Water Storage Tank, irrigation systems covering 30,000 hectares of farmland and drinking water systems in cities all the way from Algiers to Tizi-Ouzou. In December 2017, China used a Long March-3B Carrier rocket to successfully launch Algeria's Alcomsat-1 into orbit from Xichang Satellite Launch Center. The two countries have also been cooperating in the East-West Highway, El Hamdania Central Port project, new energy and various other fields in Algeria.
