China has recently further relaxed its COVID-19 restrictions, a major shift from its "dynamic zero-COVID" policy. Experts said the symptoms of the prevalent Omicron variant were much milder than other strains despite being more contagious. As a result, the country's Center for Disease Control and Prevention officials are pushing for fast COVID-19 vaccination, especially among seniors.
