Two police officers were shot and killed during a call early Wednesday morning in the city of Bay St. Louis in the U.S. state of Mississippi, local media reported.

The officers were answering a call at a motel when they encountered an armed woman. Officials said the woman shot both officers before killing herself.

The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is investigating and gathering evidence.
