China's Ministry of Commerce on Friday expressed strong opposition to the U.S. adding 36 Chinese companies to its export blacklist and urged Washington to stop the unfair practice immediately.
The ministry said the U.S. has been generalizing the concept of national security and abusing export control measures to crack down on Chinese enterprises and institutions in recent years, despite normal trade exchanges and strong opposition from industries in the two countries.
The ministry also vowed to take necessary means to safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese enterprises.
The U.S.'s frequent decisions to add Chinese enterprises to its entity list interfere with standard economic exchanges and cooperation between Chinese and U.S. enterprises, said the ministry.
It also violates market rules, undermines the international economic and trade system, affects the stability of the global industrial chain and supply chain, and harms peaceful global development, according to the ministry.
China maintains that export controls should abide by the principles of fairness, reasonableness and non-discrimination, and should not harm other countries' legitimate rights and interests, or set obstacles to scientific and technological progress, noted the ministry.
China will work to ensure the safe and smooth operation of the global industrial chain and supply chain, it added.
