A pilot ejected during an attempted vertical landing at the Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base in Fort Worth, Texas on December 15. The Marine Corps variant of a fighter jet, known as an F-35B, took a nosedive and spiraled after its wheels briefly touched down on the shared runway. The aircraft fell onto the pavement with smoke appearing in the rear. The condition of the pilot and the cause of the incident has not been reported.
