Russian President Vladimir Putin and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a phone call on Friday and discussed their bilateral cooperation, the Kremlin said. 

Putin also gave a principled assessment regarding Russia's policy in Ukraine, at Modi's request, the Russian presidency added. 

According to Indian media, Modi reiterated to Putin his call for dialogue and diplomacy as being the only way forward in the context of ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
