China launched its newest Shiyan-21 satellite from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center on December 16. The satellite was launched aboard a Long March-11 carrier rocket and has successfully entered its planned orbit. It will mainly be used to conduct in-orbit verification tests of new space technologies. The launch marked the 456th mission for the Long March series carrier rockets.
