China's COVID-19 fight in numbers: Death rate far below global average

The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases worldwide exceeded 646 million as of December 14, according to the World Health Organization. Deaths per 100,000 population globally stood at 85, whereas China's death rate per 100,000 people was two – 1/162 that of the U.S. and 1/42 of the global average.
