Irish lower house of parliament votes to elect Leo Varadkar as prime minister

Ireland's Dail Eireann, the lower house of parliament, has voted to elect Leo Varadkar as taoiseach (prime minister in Irish) for a second time, with 87 members backing the motion and 62 opposing it, RTE News reported on Saturday.

Varadkar previously served as Ireland's taoiseach and minister for defense from 2017 to 2020.
