Russia's Defense Ministry has said its forces struck Ukrainian military facilities and energy infrastructure on December 16 with high-precision long-range air and sea-based missiles. The missile strikes have led to widespread power outages in Ukrainian cities, including the capital Kyiv. Ukraine claimed it shot down 60 out of the 76 missiles fired at it by Russia.
