The 4th Hainan Island International Film Festival has opened in China's southern city of Sanya, with filmmakers and celebrities gathering to celebrate the opening on Saturday night. It will provide a feast of film-related events in the next seven days. Nearly 30 films from 26 countries are selected for this year's main competition across three categories: features, documentaries and shorts. There will also be industry forums, masterclasses, and public screenings – with a high number of tickets already being sold.
