Annual output of Xinjiang's Jimsar shale oil field tops 500,000 tonnes

The annual output of the Jimsar shale oil field in Changji Hui Autonomous Prefecture, northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region has surpassed 500,000 tonnes, according to PetroChina, one of China's major oil and gas producers and distributors.

The oil reserve in the east of Junggar Basin covers an area of 1,278 square kilometers, with over 100 million tonnes of explored shale oil. So far, it has produced 1.51 million tonnes.
