Hainan Island Intl. Film Festival: China Media Group unveils new movies

China's biggest media organization, China Media Group, has unveiled a number of new Documentary films at the Hainan International Film Festival. They include "Peking Man: The Last Secret of Mankind" "Keep Running" and "Into Space". Our correspondent Zhang Yi reports. 

The theme was "lighting up the light of civilization". China Media Group's creative team introduced highlights from their new productions, to the audience in Hainan.

ZHANG YI Sanya, Hainan Province "Peking Man, The Last Secrets of Humankind" documents the historical narrative of ancient human evolution in East Asia. It's been made jointly by film-makers from China and France, and will be released globally in 2023. Based on recent archaeological discoveries, it recreates five historical periods of human evolution, designed to take audiences on a dramatic journey of prehistoric exploration."

Based on the latest archaeological discoveries, "Peking Man, The Last Secrets of Humankind" reproduces five representative stages in the history of human evolution by film language, and involves such primitive ethnic groups as Yuanmou Man, Lantian Man, Peking Man, and Shandingdong Man.

The feature film "Into space" tells a story of a young space station engineer who was selected to become a trainee astronauts, and flies to space to perform emergency missions.

ZHU YIRAN "Into space" space shooting director "Last year, CMG has officially launched China's first 8k ultra-high-definition shooting mission in space, which was carried out by the crew of Shenzhou 13 and the subsequent crew. So far, images taken by the Shenzhou 13 crew have been returned to Earth in their re-entry capsule. We are currently producing and editing the material. In the future, when we build and operate China's space station, we will keep updating and iterating."

The documentary film "Just to Run" focuses on the running team of an amateur sports school in the small city of Genhe in northern China. It tells the story of the team members who try their best to challenge their physical limits and fate in tough and extremely cold conditions. The casting director said the entire film crew consisted of just five people, with filming taking five years to complete.
