All units of China General Nuclear Power Corporation's (CGN) offshore wind power project connected to the grid in Shanwei City, south China's Guangdong Province on Tuesday, marking the completion and operation of the country's largest offshore wind power project which achieved grid parity.

Grid parity for offshore wind power refers to the point at which the price of wind-generated electricity fed to the grid is equal to that of coal without subsidies.

The total installed capacity of the project is 1.4 million kilowatts, which is expected to generate 4 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity annually, equivalent to saving 1.27 million tonnes of standard coal and reducing 3.1 million tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions, according to Bao Xiupeng, general manager at CGN's New Energy Shanwei Offshore Wind Power Corporation.
