Russia is now under the ninth package of sanctions recently approved by the European Union. The latest round of controls are expected to affect networks of collaboration including scientists. Earlier in the year, the European Commission stopped drafting grant agreements for four projects under its Horizon Europe program that were meant to involve five Russian research organizations. It also prevented any payment to Russian entities under existing contracts.
