Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Wednesday appealed for long-term U.S. support in his address to the U.S. Congress, saying U.S. aid is not "charity" but an "investment in the global security and democracy."

Earlier Wednesday Zelenskyy visited the White House, where he met with U.S. President Joe Biden and held a joint news conference.

The U.S. will send $1.8 billion in military aid to Ukraine in a massive package that will for the first time include a Patriot missile battery and precision guided bombs for their fighter jets, U.S. officials said Tuesday.
