Sitiveni Rabuka, leader of the People's Alliance, has been elected as new prime minister of Fiji, according to the parliament on Saturday.
Rabuka was elected on the floor of parliament by 28 votes, while FijiFirst Leader Voreqe Bainimarama received 27 votes, newly-elected Speaker Naiqama Lalabalavu announced.
Fiji's Social Democratic Liberal Party on Friday voted to form a coalition with Rabuka's People's Alliance and the National Federation Party.
