The ISIL claimed responsibility on Monday for a car blast in Afghanistan's Badakhshan province that killed three people including a provincial police chief, the militant group posted on Telegram.

The bombing occurred near a police headquarter in Fayzabad, the capital of northern Afghanistan's Badakhshan province on Monday, killing the Badakhshan provincial police chief and two of his guards.

Local media said the police chief's car was targeted.

Afghan interior ministry said that two others were also injured in the blast and four people had been arrested in connection with the incident.

It was the second blast in war-torn Afghanistan since Sunday. A blast hit Police District 6 in Kabul city on Sunday evening with no casualties reported.
