China's Foreign Ministry Monday called on all parties in the Iran nuclear talks to stay committed to dialogue and negotiation and step up diplomatic effort to bring the 2015 Iran nuclear deal, officially known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), back on track as soon as possible.
Spokesperson Mao Ning made the remarks at a daily news briefing when answering a question on recent Iran nuclear deal negotiation process.
Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian last Friday said that he and EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell have agreed on the final steps for the resumption of negotiations on the implementation of the Iran nuclear deal during their recent meeting.
Amir-Abdollahian also stressed that "the window of accord is open on the part of Iran, but not forever."
Stressing China has noted the relevant reports, Mao pointed out that the Iran nuclear talks have entered the final critical stage.
Although negotiations face serious complexities, there is still hope to reach an agreement, she added.
Noting Iran has recently shown goodwill, the spokesperson hoped that the parties concerned could respond to that positively and find ways to work with Iran and take positive and constructive steps to achieve early result.
She urged not tying the Iranian nuclear issue with other issues.
China will continue to work with parties concerned to contribute to the political and diplomatic solution to the Iranian nuclear issue, uphold the international nuclear nonproliferation regime and safeguard peace and stability in the Middle East, Mao said.
