It's winter fishing season again at Chagan Lake, the largest freshwater lake in northeast China's Jilin Province, as fisherfolk display skills passed down for thousands of years.
Each winter, fishermen brave temperatures of -20 to -30 degrees Celsius, and use a centuries-old technique to catch fish. To better protect the festival and tradition, fishermen use nets with bigger holes to ensure that baby fish could escape, helping sustain the fishing population.
