Gao Yuchen, 9, and his friends at Ansai No.1 Primary School are dancing to the beats. They are performing the waist drum dance: a form of intangible cultural heritage that originated from Ansai, Shaanxi in China. The waist drum dance performance is very popular in China and is often seen at celebrations. To promote this folk cultural practice, Gao's school included the dance as part of their PE program, which led to some very festive extracurricular activities for these kids.
