China's loan demand rose in the fourth quarter of 2022, a survey of the country's bankers showed.
The index gauging overall demand for loans stood at 59.5 percent in the fourth quarter, up half a percentage points compared with the previous quarter, the People's Bank of China said Tuesday, citing a survey of senior management at 3,200 banking institutions across the country.
Loan demand in the manufacturing, wholesale, retail, and real estate sectors edged up in the fourth quarter, the survey found.
Financial data from the central bank released earlier this month showed that the country's corporate sector saw growing demand for credit in November, indicating improved market sentiment.
