The death toll from a fire at a Cambodian hotel-casino near the Thai border has risen to at least 31 as of Friday afternoon, local media reported, adding that nearly a hundred people were injured.

Rescuers on Friday continued combing through the 17-floor building for more survivors after a massive fire engulfed it on Wednesday night.

Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen on Friday expressed condolences for the victims, and urged authorities and high-rise building owners to strengthen fire safety and response procedures.

According to police, the cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
