Sonexay Siphandone was elected as the new prime minister of Laos on Friday at the concluding meeting of the Fourth Ordinary Session of the National Assembly (Ninth Legislature) of the country.
At the meeting, Phankham Viphavanh offered to resign from the post of prime minister, as the cabinet was reshuffled.
Sonexay Siphandone has served as deputy prime minister of Laos since April 2016.
