Moviegoers return to cinemas during New Year holiday as COVID measures ease
China's box office over the three-day New Year holiday exceeded 550 million yuan (79.9 million U.S. dollars.) Leading the box office is the highly anticipated Hollywood blockbuster Avatar: The Way of Water, which has raked in more than 270 million yuan (39.2 million U.S. dollars) during the holiday. Other front runners include sci-fi fantasy romance Someday or One Day and Chinese comedy Better Man. Statistics show that 85 percent of the country's cinemas have resumed business.
