China has adopted a fast-track approach in its evaluation and approval system, which allows 13 medicines for COVID-19 treatment to hit the market. The National Health Commission says the focus has shifted from "preventing infection" to "maintaining health and preventing severe illness ". Health authorities also stressed medical support to rural areas.
