Concerns have been expressed that the dominant Omicron variant of the COVID virus could generate a new mutant as it spreads in China. According to Dr Jasper Chan, a clinical associate professor at the Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine at the University of Hong Kong, the SARS-CoV-2 will continue to mutate in China and elsewhere in the world.
