Live: South China's Guangzhou gears up for Spring Festival travel rush

With the Chinese New Year just around the corner, people across the country are preparing for journeys that make up the largest human migration on earth – the Spring Festival travel rush! And it's no different for the city of Guangzhou, located in south China's Guangdong Province. This year's travel rush is expected to last 40 days, spanning from January 7 to February 15.

Guangzhou Railway Group is expected to send 45 million passengers home and across the country from multiple railway stations. The number is set to be a nearly 5% increase from travelers in 2022. Transportation authorities expect a large number of students and migrant workers to be traveling from Guangzhou to their final destinations across China. Keeping in mind China's recent optimization of COVID-19 measures, transportation management is ensuring people get home safely and relevant epidemic measures are followed. Join CGTN's Omar Khan from Guangzhou South Railway Station, as he takes a look at the first day of the Spring Festival travel rush.
