China against "groundless smears" mentioned in U.S.-Japan statement

China has strongly condemned and voiced firm opposition to the new Joint Statement released by the U.S.-Japan Security Consultative Committee. The document calls China "the greatest strategic challenge in the Indo-Pacific region and beyond" and criticizes China on some of its internal affairs. China says such a claim is a product of a zero-sum Cold-War mentality, and the criticism on China is groundless.
