A gas pipeline connecting Lithuania and Latvia was hit by an explosion on January 13, according to Lithuanian gas transmission operator Amber Grid. Flames shot 50 meters into the air and a nearby village was forced to evacuate, but no injuries have been reported, according to local media. The explosion was reportedly caused by a technical malfunction.
