As the first nation in South America to join the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), Guyana doesn't agree with the narrative which portrays the BRI as China's tool for expanding political influence in the region. Irfaan Ali, president of Guyana, tells CGTN's Wang Guan that Chinese investment is welcome as it brings benefits to the people of Guyana.
