The municipality of Shanghai has mapped out new economic plans and goals for 2023. Its economy was hit hard by COVID-19 in 2022, but has seen a V-shaped recovery in recent months.

Mayor Gong Zheng answered questions at a press conference on Sunday, following the Shanghai's annual meetings. Earlier, in his government work report, the mayor set the city's GDP target for 2023 at above 5.5 percent.
