Though a UNESCO World Heritage Site, these pyramids in northern Sudan have been largely overshadowed by the more famous pyramids in neighboring Egypt. Located some 200 kilometers away from Khartoum, the Nubian Pyramids were built by the rulers of the ancient Kushite Kingdom, who ruled 3,000 years ago. They are built of granite and sandstone.
