At least 18 people, including three children, were killed when a helicopter crashed near a kindergarten and a residential building in the city of Brovary in Ukraine's Kyiv region, Governor of Kyiv Oblast Oleksiy Kuleba said.

Among the deceased were the leadership of Ukraine's Ministry of Internal Affairs – the minister, the first deputy minister and the state secretary – Ukrinform news agency previously reported citing national police. 

Twenty-nine others, including 15 children, were injured, Kuleba said, adding that emergency services are on site.
