China secured its berth in the women's curling semifinals of the 31st Winter World University Games after beating Japan 7-3 for a seventh consecutive win in Lake Placid in the U.S. on Tuesday.
Comprised of Han Yu, Dong Ziqi, Zhu Zihui and Jiang Jiayi, the Chinese team remained dominant in the whole game, despite that Japan caught up two points in the sixth game.
With two rounds of matches remaining in the 10-team round-robin, China ranked first with a 7-0 win-loss record, followed by South Korea and the United States tied at 6-1.
Team China play South Korea and the United States on Wednesday in their last two preliminary matches, with the semifinals slated for Thursday.
The top four finishers from the round-robin preliminaries will advance to the semifinals.
