Ukraine will start negotiations on its membership in the EU this year and its goal will be achieved, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Thursday after meeting visiting President of the European Council Charles Michel.

"Our goal is Ukraine's full membership in the European Union, and I am confident that we will achieve this goal," Zelenskyy said. "I thank Mr. President Charles Michel for supporting our institutional development, for his leadership and leadership support for Ukraine, our resilience, our independence and our people."
