Chelsea have agreed to sign English winger Noni Madueke from PSV Eindhoven, according to ESPN on Thursday.

Reports in the Netherlands revealed that the Chelsea will pay nearly 40 million euros (about $43.4 million) to bring the 20-year-old young talent to Stamford Bridge. Last week, ESPN reported that the English powerhouse made an offer of 30 million euros to Eindhoven, which rejected the bid claimed that they wouldn't let Madueke go in January.

If the transfer is completed, it will become the second-biggest outbound deal Eindhoven made in club history. They sold Dutch striker Cody Gakpo to Liverpool for 42 million euros (about $45.5 million) earlier this month.

"I know of the interest in Noni. I'd rather not have that, but it's not something I decide," Eindhoven's manager Ruud van Nistelrooy said last week. "The fact that there's a lot of interest in him is of course due to his quality and his performances. But I do find it worrying. Because we've to see if we're able to keep him, I hope so very much."

"We will certainly do everything we can [to keep him]. But you also know that things can change real quick if the interest heats up. As a club, you've got to be ready and have replacements lined up because if he leaves it would mean that we lose another player this winter," Nistelrooy added.

Madueke has scored 20 goals and 14 assists in 80 appearances for Eindhoven since he was promoted to the first team in 2019.

Having finished the first 19 games of the 2022-23 Premier League season with a disappointing record of eight wins, four draws and seven losses, Chelsea are in desperate need to fix their poor offense that only generated 22 goals, the fewest among the top 10 teams. They have already signed Ukrainian winger Mykhailo Mudryk from Shakhtar Donetsk for a transfer fee that can be up to 100 million euros (about $108.4 million) and introduced Portuguese winger Joao Felix on loan from Atletico Madrid since the winter transfer window opened.

Chelsea are also negotiating with Brighton over the transfer of Ecuadorian midfielder Moises Caicedo at the moment. Their initial bid was 55 million pounds (about $68 million), which was rejected by Brighton, according to The Athletic.
