Flower markets are a quintessential ritual of Chinese New Year in the southern Chinese city of Guangzhou. Locals even go as far as saying the Chinese New Year does not start until one has combed "the flower streets". Xihu market is considered the main staple, drawing millions of visitors in its peak. After three years of pandemic suspensions, the century-old fair is back by popular demand, with more than 120 stalls offering flowers, gifts and heritage showcases.
