As the largest cliff stone statue in China, the Leshan Giant Buddha in Sichuan Province initially represented people's simple wish to calm down the water. With a history of 1,300 years, the 71-meter-high Maitreya Buddha statue guards the landscape at the confluence of the Minjiang, Dadu and Qingyi rivers. In 1996, the Buddha sculpture was included in UNESCO's Cultural and Natural Heritage Lists, together with Mount Emei. On the first day of the Chinese New Year, let's take an online tour around the iconic sculpture and enjoy its festive atmosphere.
