The peony, called "Mu Dan" in Chinese, represents wealth and auspiciousness. The appreciation of peonies has a long history in China, with Chinese artists and poets creating numerous masterpieces about its exquisite beauty. Hence, it is known as the "King of Flowers."
Known for its variety of styles and colors, the peony is a popular choice of Chinese New Year flower. Pink, purple and red peonies are the most popular, since the colors symbolize good luck and good fortune.
