A series of molten iron splash performances were staged to celebrate the ongoing Spring Festival. By splashing molten hot iron from a sizzling 1,600-degree Celsius furnace against a cold surface, performers produce a flurry of sensational sparks that glow like flower-shaped fireworks; hence, its name datiehua, which means "beating the iron flower."
