The Community of Latin American and Caribbean States, also known as CELAC, is an intergovernmental mechanism for dialogue. The bloc consists of 33 countries. Over the past few years, the region's economy has been hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic and high inflation. Professor Jiang Shixue from the Institute of Global Studies at Shanghai University, says that the CELAC summit can boost regional confidence in economic recovery.
