Fan Yang is a painter at the China National Academy of Painting and a doctoral supervisor at the Chinese National Academy of Arts. Born into a family noted for the poets, calligraphers and artists it had produced, he is a keen observer of the times. Anything that catches his eye can become the subject of one of his paintings, including nurses battling COVID-19 and spectacular scenery. He also captures sports stars and key sporting moments in his work. Sensitive to the changing times, he has painted a visual record of developments in the world around him over many years.
