Russian nuclear power operator Rosenergoatom has responded to statements made by International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) experts concerning powerful explosions near the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant by saying that they are aimed at "discrediting Russia on the issue of ensuring nuclear security" and "justifying strikes from Ukraine", according to RIA news agency.
The IAEA experts had reported that the explosions occurring outside the facility indicated military activity in the vicinity of the plant's location on the frontline of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, according to a statement released on the IAEA website.
