Domestic tourism sees strong revival during Chinese New Year holiday

This year's Spring Festival is the first in three years when Chinese people weren't encouraged to stay put during the holiday to prevent COVID-19 outbreaks. Chinese tourists' passion was on full display during the week-long Spring Festival holiday. Hundreds of millions of people decided to go traveling or sightseeing in the past week. The tourism market is seeing a strong revival. China has recorded 308 million domestic tourist visits during the seven-day Spring Festival holiday, up 23.1 percent year on year, recovered to 88.6 percent for the same period in 2019, according to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. Meanwhile, domestic tourism revenue reached 375.84 billion yuan, up 30 percent year on year.
