Health Minister Naba Kishore Das of India's eastern state of Odisha was shot by an assistant sub-inspector of police in Jharsuguda on Sunday, an officer said.
Apollo Hospital, where he was admitted for gunshot wounds to the left chest, said in a statement that he succumbed to the bullet injuries hours after being shot.
