China's mobile data traffic continued to grow during the seven-day Spring Festival holidays, of which 5G's share rose to over 40 percent, official data showed on Tuesday.
The country saw its mobile internet traffic reach around 4.21 exabytes, an increase of 6.3 percent from the figure for the 2022 Spring Festival holidays, according to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).
5G's share of mobile internet traffic during the Spring Festival holidays increased by 103 percent compared with that of last year, the ministry said.
The ministry attributed its rapid growth to the expansion of 5G users and the promotion of ultra-high definition videos and new virtual and augmented reality applications.
The data also showed that a total of 27.15 billion short messages were sent during the period, a decrease of 6.7 percent.
