China stressed not to introduce geopolitical conflict and bloc confrontation into the Asia-Pacific as the region is not a chessboard for major-power rivalries, said Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Mao Ning at a regular press conference on Wednesday.

Her comments came after Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong warned that "If conflict were to break out in the Indo-Pacific, it would be catastrophic."
